Meet the VIMA Graduates

VIMA Group launched a graduate scheme earlier this year, with the first cohort of graduates joining the company in September 2021. The new graduate junior consultants are taken on a mixture of internal and accredited project management training, with integration into our project teams offering an opportunity to add value immediately. All while being supported and developed by our team of expert consultants.

In this post, they will introduce themselves, so that you can get to know a bit about them and what they did before starting their journey at VIMA!

Calan:

Before starting at VIMA, I graduated with a BSc in Information Technology for Business (ITMB). I previously did a placement year at Knorr-Bremse, gaining experience in IT related projects whilst studying project management and writing business documentation in my university course.

I am currently working on a MOD Corsham project, covering data metrics and redesigning governance. I’ve learnt a great deal so far and look forward to getting more project management experience. Outside of work, I enjoy playing football, going to the gym and socialising with friends.

Ed:

Prior to starting at VIMA, I completed my undergraduate in Biological Sciences before achieving a Merit in Science Communications. Following my graduation, I gained experience in science journalism and presented live webinars. Currently, I am working at MOD Corsham where I am assisting with document management which helps deliver VIMA’s reporting and governance capabilities. In my spare time, I enjoy playing sports, especially football, American football, and skiing.

Josh:

Hi everyone, I am currently working in Navy Command, Portsmouth across a selection of teams in which I support a variety of functions. This is alongside the continuous graduate training we do each week for a couple of days. Before joining VIMA Group I did my Masters in International Relations at Bristol University and prior to that International Politics at Manchester Metropolitan. In my spare time I enjoy partaking in all sorts of sports, particularly rugby and skiing.

Anna:

Before starting at VIMA, I studied Comparative Literature at Queen Mary University of London. During my studies, I explored a variety of topics that stretched across cultural and national boarders, languages, and time periods. Currently, I am working on a MOD Project as well as researching new continuous improvement methods to implement into VIMA, which has been really interesting. Outside of work I enjoy all sorts of outdoor sports, from running to skiing. I am also an avid reader; I love curling up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a good book.

Alice:

Before starting at VIMA, I completed my undergraduate in History at the University of Bristol. In my degree, I had the opportunity to learn about a range of interesting topics, from ancient paganism to decolonisation. Alongside this, I started a society to help people develop their confidence in public speaking. This gave me an interest in planning and managing projects and developing others, so I was really glad when I came across the graduate role at VIMA Group. Alongside our weekly graduate training, I am currently working on a project in MOD Corsham with a focus on learning & development and quality assurance. Outside of work, I enjoy painting, spending time with friends and family, and exploring new places. I also love reading and have recently joined a local book club!

Melissa:

Prior to starting at VIMA, I attained a BSc Honours Degree in Environmental and Biological Sciences at The Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester. Throughout the entirety of university, I required a range of skills from various units, such as voluntary placements and extracurricular units ‘Leadership and Mentoring.’ These modules have helped to further develop my confidence within the workplace.

I am currently working on a project in MOD Corsham, which focuses on Learning & Development and Quality Assurance within the MOD. In my free time, I attend my local running and athletics club and aim to train towards a Marathon. I also love walking/camping trips, which stems from my previous participation in the Gold, Silver and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards. I am loving my time currently at VIMA Group and look forward to the exciting challenges and experiences ahead.
